Itinerary
Day 1: Antigua Guatemala
Representative of Maya World Tours will wait for you at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City to transfer you to the city of Antigua Guatemala.
Antigua is the capital of Sacatepéquez department of Guatemala, city that was founded in the colonial times. Because town was the second capital of the Kingdom of Guatemala, in the streets you can see beautiful buildings, real gems of architecture. Although the city is often associated with an ancient era, today it is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Central America.
You can see it everywhere: in the Palace of the General Captains, the University of San Carlos de Borromeo, the Museo de Armas de Santiago de los Caballeros, the Museum of the Ancient Book, parks, plazas, craft markets, many shops, restaurants, bars and cafes with a magic touch that enchants all visitors. Overnight in Antigua Guatemala.
Day 2: We will make a tour of the cobbled streets of this beautiful city and admire the colonial and cultural beauty, visit different places such as the Capuchin Convent, Santa Teresa, La Merced Church, Handicrafts Market, Central Park, Arco de Santa Catalina, we also have the opportunity to buy Handicrafts. As the ancient Maya skillfull craftsmen produced unique pieces of stone known as Jade that will also be the point of our interest.
Overnight in Antigua Guatemala.
Day 3: Chichicastenango and Atitlan
7:00 am. Maya World Tours representative will be waiting for you in the lobby of the hotel to go to Chichicastenango.
That region is very interesting and traditional, inhabited by Quiche Maya.
It is famous for its market which attracts a lot of tourists visiting Guatemala. It has a population of around 120,000. Chichicastenango is also famous because it is the place where you found the Popol Vuh, a Mayan religious book that describes the origin of mankind.
Chichicastenango is certainly a valuable destination on the colorful market days, local traditional costumes and especially for its rich culture and history.
Religious rituals are done with different aims, from asking health, work, etc.. Up to happy marriage and give any other instruction.
We will visit the outdoor market of Chichicastenango, the local Church Santo Tomas where you can meet local shamans performing rituals Maya.
Then we take a boat tour on nearby Lake Atitlan visiting the town of Santiago Atitlan. Here we can see local customs.
In the afternoon return to Guatemala City.
Overnight in Guatemala City.
Day 4: Tikal
Representative of Maya World Tours will wait for you again, in the lobby of the hotel, this time for a transfer to Peten, northern tropical forest area of Guatemala. We will take a plane.
FLIGHT ITINERARY: Guatemala- Flores 6:30 am, Flores- Guatemala 5:00 pm.
Flight schedules change depending on season.
Upon arrival, Maya World Tours representative will transfer you to the Tikal National Park (tour bus).
The adventure begins with the incredible history of Tikal, biggest Mayan city, and visit of some places like: Q Complex, Central Acropolis, The South Acropolis, Great Plaza, the Temple IV and the Lost World Complex.
2:00 pm: Lunch without drink, 3:00 pm: Transfer to the airport park to take your return flight. 6:00 pm: On arrival in the City representative will be waiting for you with transportation to the hotel. Overnight in Guatemala City.
Day 5:
Ciudad
Free day in the City.
Depending of your flight itinerary, you will be transferred to the Airport.
