Itinerary

Day 1: Maya World Tours representative will waiting for you in the Airport to transfer to your hotel in the city.

Overnight in Guatemala City.

Day 2: Start of the tour to visit the largest outdoor market in Central America in Chichicastenango. Town locals call Chichi has a rich culture and people are dressed in traditional costumes. Often held here are traditional religious rituals, many of whom represent syncretism (mixture of traditional beliefs with Christianity).

After this visit, we take a boat tour of the Lake Atitlan; view of the three volcanoes and some villages on the shore - like San Pedro, Santiago and San Juan. Here you can admire the craft workshops, painting workshops, visit the market and the local churches, but also the house in which God Maximon rituals is performed. There is opportunity to buy souvenirs.

The tour ends in San Juan La Laguna where you will stay overnight with Tz´utujil families.

Accommodation in family houses.

Hosts will be traditional Tz’utujil Maya people. Each person will be housed individually or in pairs in local family homes. During their stay they will learn to make tortillas (traditional Guatemalan basic food) as well as the production of textiles that family sell on the markets.

Day 3: Optional Tours...

Craft Cultural Tour

Guided tour of craft workshops and the people of San Juan La Laguna.

Tour of the Tree Ceremony.

Visit to the nursery, choosing a tree for planting, planting it with Mayan ceremony.

Transfer out of San Juan La Laguna to Antigua Guatemala.

After arrival visitors may walk the cobbled streets of the town, visiting the central park and admire the beauty of the architecture and colonial culture.

Guided tour through the old town visiting Capuchin Monastery, Santa Teresa Church, La Merced Church, Handicrafts Market, Central Park, Arco de Santa Catalina, with the option to buy crafts, especially as the ancient Maya developed production of the jade.

Overnight in Antigua Guatemala.

Day 4: Free day in Antigua Guatemala.

Depending of your flight itinerary, you will be transferred to the Airport.
